Cambridge’s first indoor skatepark, The Warehouse, is celebrating its first anniversary this Saturday, 6 September, with a free all-day “Birthday Bash” packed with skating, music, food, and fun for all ages.
The skatepark, based at 3 Coldham’s Lane, opened its doors in September 2024 thanks to community efforts from Cam Skate and support from Cambridge City Council.
The project transformed an empty 850sqm warehouse into a creative and safe all-weather space, designed by the Cambridge skateboard community and built by Pete Higginson.
In just one year, the Warehouse has become a thriving hub for the region’s skateboarding scene. Since opening, The Warehouse has received over 10,000 visits, hosted five holiday skate camps, launched after-school and after-work skate clubs, and helped more than 150 people learn to skate for the very first time. Building on this success, the skatepark will also soon launch roller skating coaching.
Cam Skate Directors James Moulang, Joe Lewis and Paul Elbro said:
“This has been an incredible first year for Cambridge’s skateboarding community. We’ve welcomed thousands of people through our doors, introduced more than 150 new skaters to the sport, and built something the whole city can be proud of. The Birthday Bash is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported us.”
