People on Canvey Island are being invited to dig out their old school tie and relive the magic of school assemblies with an evening of toe-tapping tunes and tasty food by The Salvation Army later this month.
Assembly Bangers is being held at the church and charity’s hall on Mitchell’s Avenue on 27 September and will celebrate the classic hymns that brought generations together during morning assemblies. Guests can expect to sing along to timeless favourites like Give Me Oil In My Lamp and Lord of the Dance in a joyful and uplifting atmosphere designed to spark memories and create new ones.
It’s not just the music that’s nostalgic – every ticket includes a delicious sausage and chip supper, making this a proper community gathering with a tasty twist.
Tickets are £3 per adult and £1 per child, making it an affordable and fun evening for individuals, families and friends.
Hilary Johnston, Pioneer Partner at The Salvation Army Canvey Island, said: “Assembly Bangers is all about bringing people together to celebrate the songs we all remember from school days. We wanted to create a fun and welcoming space for everyone to sing, laugh and enjoy a great meal together.
Assembly Bangers is at The Salvation Army, Mitchell’s Avenue, Canvey Island, Essex. SS8 8JB.
