Colchester MP, Pam Cox has officially opened Mid and North East Essex Mind’s new base for its North East Essex Sanctuary.
The North East Essex Sanctuary, which offers a safe space for people to access support when dealing with challenging moments in their lives, is now available at The Coach House, Lewis Gardens, High Street, Colchester, CO1 1JH – near Firstsite gallery.
The mental health charity, Mid and North East Essex Mind, moved its mental health crisis provision, from its former base in St Peter’s Street, to provide a more central location for its support services.
Pam Cox MP was delighted to see the services on offer. She says: “It’s vital that people get the mental health support they need. It’s really inspiring to see the exceptional work Mid and North East Essex Mind is delivering to the people of north east Essex in the heart of the community.”
Mid and North East Essex Mind were awarded the contract to provide this community service by NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (SNEE ICB).
Ginny Idehen, CEO, Mid and North East Essex Mind, is really pleased to offer people easier access to the North East Essex Sanctuary. She says: “Whether you’re experiencing a mental health crisis or need support to stay well, we can provide a safe, compassionate space for you.”
She continued: “The new centre offers rooms which will offer a calming place for people to be. We’ll also be located in the heart of Colchester, just at the end of the High Street, making the service much more accessible for all.”
The North East Essex Sanctuary has been set-up to help prevent people from getting into a mental health crisis. Trained personnel are on-hand to offer non-clinical, timely support to stop people feeling overwhelmed or distressed. The team works with individuals to create personalised plans for anyone requiring help. Each plan is designed to meet a person’s needs and dovetails with any other support someone may be receiving.
