Star of BBC’s The Apprentice and University of Hertfordshire graduate Frederick Afrifa will be going live on Instagram to inspire young people considering a degree in business.
The session, taking place at 2pm on Wednesday 13 August, will give students the chance to hear Frederick’s story, ask questions, and gain insights into studying business and building a confident, successful career.
Frederick – who rose to national fame on this year’s The Apprentice, impressing viewers and Lord Sugar with his energy, ambition and entrepreneurial mindset – graduated from the University of Hertfordshire’s Business School in 2019 with a degree in Accounting and French. He has since built a thriving career as a motivational speaker and co-founder of Believe in Greatness, a professional training and coaching company. Now he’s passionate about helping others to unlock their potential.
“I’ve faced many setbacks, but every challenge taught me something powerful,” explains Frederick. “I want to show young people that their potential is limitless.”
Before launching his business career, Frederick was a talented runner who competed at national level and trained full-time while studying at Herts. He signed his first professional contract in his final year and was offered a scholarship to compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the U.S. However, the pandemic brought his sporting ambitions to a sudden halt when an American university withdrew its offer and his sponsor pulled out.
That turning point led Frederick to refocus his energy on business and personal development. Since then, he has worked with major organisations including Sky, BT, Shell Energy, and the government of the British Virgin Islands. Now based in Milton Keynes, he says he joined The Apprentice to grow his business and help more professionals and entrepreneurs build confidence in public speaking. With around 80,000 applicants each year, securing a spot on the show is a major achievement.
Frederick will be joined on the Instagram Live by current Herts student Farirai (Fari) Musoni, who is studying Digital Marketing at Hertfordshire Business School. – where student positivity was ranked over 88% in the recent National Student Survey, ahead of the sector average of 83.6%. one of the UK’s largest, with over 10,000 students. Fari is currently on his placement year working as the University’s Student Success Officer and will offer insights from a current student’s perspective.
Together, Frederick and Fari will be answering questions and sharing advice on why studying business could be the right choice – and how it can open doors to exciting career opportunities.
