Witham Job Fair hailed a success

A job fair organised by Braintree District Council and the Department of Work & Pensions saw a high turnout of job seekers last week (Thursday 14 March).

The event, held at Witham Public Hall, saw over 350 people attend and over 30 exhibitors from businesses and training providers from across the area including Essex Police, East of England Ambulance Service, Stansted Airport and Catapult – Cell and Gene Therapy.

Councillors including Braintree District Council Chairman Cllr Diana Garrod, Cllr Ron Ramage, Cllr Billy Taylor, Cllr Jon Hayes and County Councillor for Witham Northern Cllr Ross Playle were also in attendance at the event.

Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Braintree District Council, Cllr Frankie Ricci, said: “There are many interesting and diverse career paths available in and around the Braintree district. Whether you’re looking to begin your journey into the working world or to change your career path, there are a wealth of opportunities available – for those at entry level to apprenticeships and those already with qualifications.”

The council hopes to hold another event this autumn and will release details nearer the time.
