The International Firefighters Motorcycle Club Red Knights England 4 Chapter have raised an impressive £2,752, along with £405 in Gift Aid, for the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity’s Rosemary Suite, a vital baby bereavement unit.

Ronnie Patterson, President of the Red Knights England 4 Chapter, said: “Our mission as Red Knights goes beyond the road; it’s about making a real impact in the communities we serve. The Rosemary Suite provides crucial support during challenging times, and we are honoured to play a part in assisting families in Essex and Suffolk. This fundraising effort truly reflects the compassion and generosity of our members and everyone in the community who donated, and we’re proud to stand together for such a meaningful cause.”

The Rosemary Suite at Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals offers support and comfort to families experiencing the loss of a baby. The funds raised by the Red Knights will contribute to enhancing the suite’s facilities and resources, ensuring a compassionate environment during difficult times.

The official handover ceremony took place on January 21, where members of the Red Knights presented the funds to representatives from the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

Penny Norris, Trust & Corporate Fundraising Manager for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, shared her appreciation for the Red Knights’ dedication: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the Red Knights this past year. They’ve been so committed to their fundraising for the Rosemary Suite at Colchester Hospital, and their activities have been unusual and fun. From prom, wedding, and funeral escorts by motorbike to fire station open days and quiz and disco nights, they’ve worked hard to raise funds for our baby bereavement suite. The money raised will enable us to improve the facilities and give couples the space to make decisions and come to terms with the loss of their baby. Thank you, Red Knights England 4; we’re very grateful.”

The Red Knights England 4 Chapter remains devoted to community service, and this initiative underscores their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those they serve.
