An Eco Art Competition for school age children has been launched by St Mary’s Colchester. The challenge set by St Mary’s Senior School’s Art Department and Eco Team is to create a piece of artwork using recyclable materials or with an eco message. These pieces can be in any format but should be sent digitally to [email protected] by 13 November to be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Miss Anwen Jones, Head of St Mary’s Senior School said “St Mary’s is an Eco-School and we have the highest accolade of a Green Flag with distinction which was awarded in June 2023. We are committed to creating a sustainable environment in which to educate future generations and are passionate about eco initiatives. Our Senior School’s talented Art Department and enthusiastic, student-led Eco Team are looking forward to receiving entries and are keen to encourage school age children to get creative whilst raising awareness of the importance of sustaining our environment. Wishing everyone the best of luck with their entries!”

Following on from the success of previous Food and Craft Fairs, St Mary’s Eco Team are also organising a Christmas Food and Craft Fair on Saturday 25 November at the Senior School on Lexden Road in Colchester, from 10am to 2pm. At this free event, there will be various stalls for visitors to browse, providing an excellent opportunity for locally sourced festive gift shopping. Winners of the Eco Art competition will be recognised and awarded with certificates and prizes at this event.
