GBNews.com storms up rankings of UK news websites

GBNews.com is the nation’s fastest-growing news website after it soared another 60% last month, eclipsing The Times for the first time.

GB News also ranked ahead of established brands such as Metro, the Evening Standard, and The Daily Star to take its inaugural place as a Top 20 UK news publisher.

Official SimilarWeb data released today shows GB News grew 61.24% in August compared to July. Only five other sites in the top 20 grew in this period, with the next best at 7.62%.

Chief Digital Officer Geoff Marsh said: “We are now officially the 19th biggest news site in the country with one per cent of all UK news share. This is astonishing given that MailOnline, one of the biggest websites on the planet, has seven per cent after 20 years.”

GB News relaunched its website as a dotcom (it was previously a dot uk) five months ago as part of its goal to be the number one news channel in the United Kingdom by 2028.

By May, it had grown 535% on the previous year and had overtaken sites such as The Scotsman and the i newspaper, but has sharply accelerated since then.

The company is also developing its fledgling GBN America brand and recruiting new staff in the US, where it already has a fast-growing audience.

Mr Marsh said the website now features a world class catch-up and video-on-demand service, with a new App and other exciting digital developments in the pipeline.

“But above all, it’s about great journalism and simply connecting to audiences with better stories, compelling video, and a deeper understanding of what people really want,” he said.

He added: “GB News continues to buck industry trends by growing against our establishment rivals despite the odds, proving once again that we truly are The People’s Channel.”
