A FORMER prisoner at HMP Wandsworth has blasted conditions inside the jail.

Daniel Khalife, David Shipley told GB News: “In the case of Wandsworth it’s so badly run and it is such a sloppy organisation so understaffed and so chaotic. I find it quite easy to believe that he saw an opportunity to get under the lorry in the kitchen. There are some big questions.

“Working in the kitchens is one of the jobs in prison which gives you the closest access to the outside world. So there’s no way anyone who’s a flight risk should be allowed to work there. So why was he working there?

The other huge question is why the lorry wasn’t checked on the way out of the prison, the policy when I was there and it still should be is that every vehicle leaving has to be checked beneath the mirrors. It’s been that way since there was a very similar escape to this at Wandsworth in 2019 where prisoners stowed away under a lorry.
“So I think it’s quite possible he could have got himself onto the lorry and the lorry without assistance.”
