wilko celebrates 50 years of paint range with six new shades

wilko launched a new own-brand paint range earlier this year, which includes 85 statement-making colour choices. What’s more, three shades have been named by wilko shoppers following a competition which ran across the brand’s social media.

From soothing tones for living rooms, including Duck Egg and Magnolia, to vibrant colours for the children’s rooms, including Candy Cane and Jelly Bean, each shade offers hard-working families a different way to style their homes this year, all at purse-friendly prices.

Each shade has been created by wilko and their paint supplier using wilko customer styles and upcoming market trends; ensuring a fresh, up-to-date paint palette that expertly compliments wilko’s in-store and online product offering.

To celebrate providing homes with the best quality own-brand paints, finishes and colours for 50 years, the household and garden retailer challenged its shoppers with a competition to name three of the new collection shades.

The Matcha Matcha shade was named by Mark Thomas and Dawn Terry, Vicky O’Conner won with Bohemian Raspberry, and finally, Leonie Poppy named Lilac Fields.

On top of that, wilko is also adding to its existing paint ranges to suit every household, including additional colours for the Tough and Washable paints for high-traffic areas of the home.

Nik Fowden, Senior Buyer at wilko said: “Whether it’s out in the garden or inside your home, having the right paint can save you time and money. Our speciality paints and finishes can give a new lease of life to tired doors, cupboards and even radiators.

“Customer’s taste changes each year, dependant on the current trends and ahead of the seasonal switch up we’ve seen a growing interest in the colour green across our wilko own-branded paints, with both English Sage and Treetops proving popular with our shoppers.

“We predict that dark shades of greens, including castleton and forest, will continue to be popular colour choices for homeowners throughout the second half of 2023, as natural tones and earthy shades guarantee a versatile and transferable look throughout the different seasons.”
