The Under 9 and Under 11 tennis teams from Dame Bradbury’s Junior School in Saffron Walden took inspiration from the professionals at Wimbledon and have triumphed over local opposition to become regional champions.

The budding Under 9 Dame Bradbury’s tennis players played skilfully to be named joint winners at the West Essex, Uttlesford and Harlow tennis tournament with St Thomas More School, while the Under 11 team won the Uttlesford district tennis tournament at Stebbing Tennis Club.

Sam Godfrey, Head of Sport at Dame Bradbury’s said: “Both of our teams played some excellent tennis to win the district titles in both tournaments. The Under 9 team beat nine other schools to secure gold medals, while the Under 11 team beat teams from five schools to claim the regional title. We’re incredibly proud of their achievements, which mark a brilliant end to the academic year.”

Tennis is an extremely popular sport among boys and girls at Dame Bradbury’s Junior School, where pupils are able to make use of a multi-use games area for tennis and netball courts. For more information about sport at Dame Bradbury’s, visit the website.
