Female engineers of the future learnt about exciting career paths at a Colchester Library event celebrating the 10th anniversary of International Women in Engineering Day on Friday (June 23).

Students from Colchester Academy, St Helena School and Thurstable School in Tiptree spent an interesting day talking to female engineers from UK Power Networks.

The Powerful Futures event was organised in partnership with Essex County Council and aimed at breaking down some of the stereotypes surrounding the utilities and engineering industries. As well as various activities they heard from an all-female panel about careers in the industry.
