The Leisure Centre has created a programme designed to celebrate women and help them check their health and learn about safety. The following sessions will be taking place throughout the day:

· Free refreshments and 50p gym/swim sessions from 0845 – 1545
· Provide will be offering women’s health checks
· Spin, aqua, yoga and rebound classes running on site

The self-defence taster classes will give participants an overview of basic techniques and personal safety awareness, ahead of free 12-week courses that will be running at the centre after Easter as part of a Safer Streets Project. The courses will offer women and girls aged 14+ from Witham the chance to complete a full self-defence course with a qualified instructor. The courses will empower women and girls to feel more confident and become more aware of their surroundings.

Catherine Forsyth, Sports and Community Development Officer for Fusion Lifestyle, commented, “We are really looking forward to welcoming women and girls from the Witham community into the centre for International Women’s Day. Our taster sessions will help give a real flavour of the free new courses we will be launching soon which we hope will inspire and instil confidence in all participants.”
