SUPER-RARE 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ SLR STIRLING MOSS TO BE OFFERED THROUGH SOTHEBY’S SEALED

RM Sotheby’s is delighted to offer an incredible 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss through its Sotheby’s Sealed online auction platform. Created to honour what is arguably the most famous racing car of all time, the iconic 300 SLR which Sir Stirling Moss piloted to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia with co-driver Denis Jenkinson, this model represents the final and rarest iteration of the SLR McLaren.

Boasting extensive use of carbon fibre throughout, the Stirling Moss enjoyed a 200 kg weight reduction in comparison to the SLR 722 Edition, making it a nimble and agile machine that is at home on road or track. Powered by a brutal 641 bhp, 5.5-litre supercharged AMG V-8, the machine is capable of an incredible top speed of 354 km/h.

In recognition of the motor car it pays homage to, most Stirling Moss examples were finished in metallic silver paintwork over a black and red leather interior. This example was delivered new to Germany, where it has continued to reside with its first and only owner. With a mere 150 km on the odometer, this is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of the SLR Stirling Moss to be found anywhere in the world and is a rare opportunity to acquire an ’as-new’ example of a brilliantly engineered supercar that surely set the template for the extreme speedster-style supercars that have followed in the years since.

Offered without reserve, and with many of these examples now sitting within private collections, this is an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic models of the 21st Century.

Sotheby’s Sealed

Since it’s unveiling, Sotheby’s Sealed has become an incredibly successful online platform offering some of the world’s most significant cars to a growing global audience. Since its inception, Sotheby’s Sealed has offered Juan Fangio’s personal Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, the fabled white Ferrari Enzo, an iconic McLaren F1, and now, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss. Using a novel and fresh bidding system, bidders are able to see where their current bid ranks but will not know what anyone else has bid. There is an auto-extension if a client ranked in the top three bids in the last 90 seconds of the auction. The auto-extend can also be triggered when a new bid causes the bidder to be ranked in the top three, even if the ranking doesn’t change. Bidders can register to bid here.

Bidding opens 31 January 2023 at 18:00 (CET) and closes 8 February 2023 at 18:00 (CET).
