Motoring experts reveal how to use SOCKS to prevent your car from freezing over ❄️ 🧦

1. Cover your windshield wipers with long socks to prevent them from freezing over

Use long socks to cover your windshield wipers to stop them from freezing over on cold nights. This will save you time in the morning defrosting the clumps of ice that often gather on windscreen wipers. For this hack, Peter Vardy recommends the thicker the socks the better so ensure they fully cover your wipers.

2. Stuck in ice or snow? Try placing your rubber floor mats underneath your tyres

If your car gets stuck in snow or ice take the rubber floor mats from your car and place them under the tyre that is slipping for traction. It should help you get over the tricky spot so you can get away but don’t forget to collect your rubber mat before leaving the area.

3. Use shaving foam to prevent windows from fogging up

For this hack, you will need shaving foam and a microfibre cloth. Put a generous amount of shaving foam onto the cloth and wipe it on your windscreen, both inside and out, until it disappears. This should prevent your windows from fogging up in the colder months.

4. Never turn your heating on straight away

As the weather gets colder let your car run for a minute or two before you start driving and turn the heating on. The reason behind this is when you turn the heating on it gets pulled from the engine, if the engine is cold it is unable to get any heat from it and ends up blowing more cold air into your car.

5. Try out this shaving foam hack to clean mud from your car after a walk on a rainy day

It’s without a doubt that getting into your car after a walk in the autumn and winter months is going to be messy as the ground is more likely to be wet. This mud from shoes and clothes will transfer into your car however this hack could save you on average £32.50 on getting your car cleaned professionally according to Checkatrade.

Simply take a microfibre cloth and apply shaving foam to it and then rub this on any muddy patches inside your car. Rub this in until it disappears and let it sit for ten minutes before wiping the car seats clean with a damp cloth. Once the area is dry it should look as good as new.
