Hertfordshire-based development and construction company Griggs Homes is celebrating after recently being awarded two national prizes and two regional wins at The International Property Awards.

The third-generation family business, based in Borehamwood, was awarded Five Star Best Residential Development in the UK for The Stables, its exclusive project of 10 three, four and five-bedroom family homes in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside close to Cowley Hill, Borehamwood.

The development of detached and semi-detached homes caught the judges’ eyes for its range of beautifully finished homes in four different styles, ranging from timber-clad The Ascot, with three bedrooms and an expansive open plan kitchen and dining/family room to traditional red brick detached home The Cheltenham, with five bedrooms, a huge kitchen-diner opening to the garden and a double garage.

The second national award was for Five Star Best Office Interior, which Griggs Homes won for the design of its own head office, next to its residential development The Grain Yard in Borehamwood. The office, which also offers rentable facilities for local small businesses, impressed judges with its contemporary design, with industrial Crittal-style internal glass doors, a spiral staircase to a mezzanine bridge linking the two wings, a living wall of plants and exciting modern art, including a life-size yellow gorilla swinging from the ceiling. Shared facilities include a curvaceous backlit bar, dining and coffee areas, commercial kitchen and a barbecue and firepit.

Griggs also scooped two regional Hertfordshire prizes – Five Star Best Residential Development 2-9 Units for Woodlands Manor and Best Residential Property for Orchard View. Woodlands Manor in Elstree is a private gated development of nine two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments which will offer low-carbon living thanks to air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric car charging points. Seven of the apartments have already sold off-plan, with two three-bedroom properties remaining.

Orchard View is a six bedroom, six bathroom bespoke detached smart home in the village of Radlett, set in 3.8 acres of land and including an indoor swimming pool. This unique home was fully automated throughout with the latest technology, and boasted an elegant standard of living, with the main bedroom having a dressing room, bathroom with free-standing bath, wet room, his and hers sinks and a balcony overlooking the rear garden.

Mark Johnson, Sales Director at Griggs, said: “These four separate awards clearly demonstrate the skill and versatility of our company. Not only did we win two awards for our diverse residential developments, but we also scooped accolades for office design and for creating a luxurious individual home. We are a family-run business, established in 1968, and these awards are a testament to the many and varied skills we have perfected in that time. We believe it’s important to do things properly – and we are delighted that the judges recognised our achievements in these four such different projects.”

It’s not the first time that Griggs’ projects have been recognised by the International Property Awards. In the 2021 awards, the company won a handful of prizes for earlier phases of The Grain Yard, as well as recognition for another bespoke luxury home.
