Happy Mondays, Black Grape and all-round Madchester legend Shaun Ryder is set to play a special intimate show – his first in 11 years – at Manchester’s Factory 251 on October 7th. He will be joined by a live full band as he performs a set focusing on songs from last year’s solo album ‘Visits From Future Technology’ as well as a few select surprises. The show takes Shaun back to where it all began as he hits a venue located within the famous home of Factory Records. It also features a very special guest with a DJ set from Creation Records founder and rock ‘n’ roll visionary Alan McGee. Tickets are now available HERE.

Shaun says, “‘I’m really looking forward to playing my first solo show in 11 years. It’ll be great to play some songs from my album ‘Visits from Future Technology’ live.”

This represents a rare opportunity to hear Shaun play material from ‘Visits From Future Technology’. It’s a record that was created in unusual circumstances. In 2010, he started work on a new project with producer Sonny Levine in Florida. But one thing led to another and the album ended up on the backburner, and then was all but forgotten about. A decade on and Alan McGee suggested he revisit the record, which led to Shaun re-recording some of the vocals and Sonny Levine remixing the set.

Ultimately – eleven years later – it proved to be well worth the wait. The Face hailed the album as “A potent, 11-track patchwork of grizzly humour, Salford lilts and killer grooves,” while Louder Than War stated, “The coherent and consistent excellence of the tunes is remarkable.”

All proceeds from the show will be donated to the mental health charity Mind. The charity provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, and campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding mental health.

Shaun Ryder’s Factory 251 show is presented by two long-standing supporters of the UK’s live music scene: menswear retailers scotts, who recently feature Shaun and his son Olli (founder of the Animal Crossing label) in their Next Generation campaign; and This Feeling, the club night beloved by everyone from Blossoms to Carl Barât who have launched a label which is introducing vital new artists including The Native, Spangled, Fitzroy Holt and Rosellas.
