Mark Durham to Raise Funds for Prostate Cancer

Mark Durham, son of late well-known painter John Durham, is offering discounted celebrant services to families of men who have died from prostate cancer.

Mark’s father, accomplished artist John Durham, died last year from prostate cancer, and now Mark would like to raise funds for various prostate cancer charities.

As a qualified celebrant who has already officiated at funerals across Essex, Mark is offering celebrant services for £250, and if paid by the funeral director, £200 of this fee will go to Prostate Cancer UK for each funeral. Through this work, he aims to raise £2000 a year for the charity.

Proud son Mark said: “I’m supporting Prostate Cancer UK not only because of my dad, but because many men suffer with this horrible disease, including one of my cousins and some colleagues. Prostate cancer is all about catching it early, and I’m going to do all I can to help raise funds for such an important charity.”

He continued: “As part of my service, I consult with bereaved families before the funeral, where we talk about the deceased person’s life, and I want mourning families to know that I understand their grief and still feel it every day. If I can make a difference to even one family’s life by having that common ground with them, it’ll all be worth it.”

Mark is keen to work alongside funeral directors to deliver this service, and if interested, funeral directors should contact Mark by telephone on 07850967239 or by email at [email protected]. Bereaved families who would like to take up this service can also contact Mark directly.
