Sushi Daily brings Japanese cuisine to Saffron Walden

Waitrose & Partners customers in Saffron Walden can now enjoy freshly handmade sushi thanks to Sushi Daily, which is opening a brand-new counter in the store on Hill Street on 9 September.

The new counter marks the franchise’s fifth store in Essex, where it already has fresh sushi counters in Waitrose & Partners supermarkets in Billericay and Southend-on-Sea. It also has counters in Asda superstores in South Woodham Ferrers and Shoeburyness in the county.

Providing a fresh, innovative alternative to regular grab-and-go convenience food, Sushi Daily offers an open kitchen experience, where customers can watch sushi artisans in action preparing the highest quality ingredients.

Foodies can enjoy Sushi Daily’s new sushi burritos with three flavours to choose from, including super salmon, tuna mayo and chicken fiesta, giving customers a new option for lunch on the go.

Sushi burritos are a Japanese-American fusion food, similar to a large maki roll, which have become increasingly popular with a global audience in recent years. Featuring sushi ingredients such as fish or vegetables, rolled in a seaweed wrap, they are served up like a burrito.

Sushi Daily’s super salmon burrito features sushi rice, avocado, salmon, pickled red cabbage, cream cheese, edamame and fried onion, all wrapped in black nori (£6.95).

The tuna mayo burrito includes sushi rice, tuna mayo mix, avocado, pickled red cabbage, cucumber and nori (£6.75).

Finally, the chicken fiesta burrito features a lightly spiced chicken mix, cucumber, avocado, pickled carrot, red bell pepper, spicy mayo, sesame filling, wrapped in nori and coated with sushi rice and sesame seeds (£6.75).

Customers can personalise their meal with a range of sauces including sweet soy sauce, spicy mayo, sweet chilli and ponzu wasabi sauce at £0.55.

Waitrose & Partners customers at the store can find a regular supply of fresh and handmade nigiri, sashimi, maki, and dragon and California rolls. They can also enjoy sushi menus or sharing platters, as well as hot food options, starters, sides and desserts.

Managing director of Sushi Daily, Ian Roberts, said: “We’re thrilled about opening a franchise in Saffron Walden which builds on our ever-expanding partnership with Waitrose & Partners supermarkets across the UK.

“We’re sure that residents will be delighted when they see our expertly trained sushi artisans create the finest delicacies for them when they visit.

“The counter will offer a wealth of lunch on the go options such as our Japanese-American fusion cuisine, sushi burritos, right up to a beautifully presented sushi selection for a special occasion, making Sushi Daily a fantastic choice for people who enjoy a treat when they’re dining in.”
