This Sunday 18th September 2022, the Vulcan Restoration Trust will open its gates to visitors for the final Visit the Vulcan Day of 2022, where once again you have the chance to get up close and personal with Avro Vulcan XL426 at London Southend Airport.

At 11.30am we will be holding a one-minute silence to remember Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, followed by the Essex Yeomanry Band playing the National Anthem at 11.31am. As well as being able to get close to XL426, for an additional fee you can climb inside for a guided tour of the cockpit. This is an experience you do not want to miss!

As well as the Vulcan, there will be much to keep everyone entertained.

There will be examples of the weapons carried by the Avro Vulcan during its time with the RAF, including examples of the type of 1,000lb high explosive bomb the Vulcan dropped on Port Stanley airfield during the 1982 Falklands Conflict.

The Essex Yeomanry Brass Band will keep everyone entertained during the day and reenactors from the 10th Essex Living History Group and the Norfolk Great War Living History Group will be joining us to give a ‘period’ feel to the event.

There will also be a display of classic fire engines, including 240 FLM with its gigantic Merryweather turntable and ladder, courtesy of the 240 FLM Preservation Group.
Joining us throughout the day will be some of the Marvel Avengers including Captain America, Iron Man and Captain Marvel who’ll be keeping a close eye on us all and patrolling the display ground!

Food and drink stands will be on hand to ensure no one goes hungry or thirsty and our Vulcan Restoration Trust Merchandise stand will be selling a selection of Vulcan souvenirs to remember your day!
The Vulcan at London Southend Airport is owned by the Vulcan Restoration Trust. The Trust is a registered charity and it maintains the aircraft in full working order, although it is no longer airworthy. All the proceeds from Visit the Vulcan Classic Jets Day will go towards the aircraft’s upkeep.
Vulcan Restoration Trust Events Manager Jamie Keene said: “We are hoping that our Visit the Vulcan Day of 2022 will be one to remember with lots of things to do and see throughout the day. There is certainly a lot to look forward to this coming Sunday!”
General admission is £7.00 for adults with under-16s admitted FREE. Cockpit visits are an additional £7.00 per person applicable to both adults and under-16s. Tickets will be on sale on the gate and are also available to buy in advance should you wish. There is no need to buy advance tickets for under-16s. Full refunds will be given if, for any reason, the event does not go ahead.
The gates open at 10.00 am and last admission is at 4.00 pm. Tickets are on sale via the Trust’s website www.avrovulcan.com and on the gate on the day.
