Introducing Seiko Prospex Diver’s “Aurora” Limited Edition

Seiko Watches are thrilled to introduce the Prospex Diver’s “Aurora” which is Limited Edition, with only 500 pieces being produced.

A modern re-interpretation of the original 1970 Diver’s Watch, the timepiece was the perfectly reliable companion for wearers who required a watch with exceptional strength and visibility. Originally worn by Japanese adventurer, Naomi Uemura, the 1970 Diver’s Watch proved its reliability in extreme conditions as Uemura completed a 12,500km solo dog-sled run from Greenland to Alaska in 1974.

The Prospex Diver’s “Aurora” Limited Edition mirrors the original 1970 Diver’s Watch case shape with an extension that protects the crown.

This case shape is now affectionately referred to by Seiko fans as the ‘Turtle’. The modern re-interpretation is fully compliant with ISO-6425 diver’s watch requirements with a readability at 25cm in total darkness as well as chemical, magnetic and shock resistance. Powdered by the Seiko in-house 8L35 watch movement, the Prospex Diver’s “Aurora” Limited Edition has over 50 hours worth of power reserve including both a hacking and hand-winding option, adding to its longevity. The timepiece has an accuracy of +/- 10 to 15 seconds a day.

The modern re-interpretation has a blue gradation, three-dimensional pattern on the dial and the bezel’s insert ring is coated in blue. These features reference the Aurora Borealis of the Arctic night sky. The timepiece also comes with an additional exclusively designed 1970s style silicone strap.

Available from October at Seikoboutique.co.uk, £2,740.
