ACL Essex Hosts Community Event to Support Ukrainian Families and Hosts

Adult education provider, ACL Essex, hosted a community event to support Ukrainian families and their UK hosts on Wednesday 1st June in Chelmsford

The event will took place Chelmsford Library, Chelmsford County Hall, Market Road, Chelmsford between 10am -12.30pm and attendees can find out about the learning opportunities available, guidance on improving employment prospects, and where to find peer and community support in their local area. There will also be a chance to find out more information about free family learning courses supporting parents and carers which includes emotional wellbeing, parenting, digital skills, and English and maths. The event will include a wide range of fun activities and demonstrations for all members of the family.

Councillor Tony Ball, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability, says: “I’m really pleased that ACL Essex is able to offer support for Ukrainian families and their hosts, the team will be on-hand to explain the help that is on offer, from training opportunities to free family wellbeing courses, plus providing an opportunity for Ukrainian and host families to meet one another in a welcoming environment.”

He continues: “We’d like UK hosts to know that ACL Essex is also able to support Ukrainian families by improving their English and helping them to integrate into their new community and the workplace.”
