GMB Union will now take ‘callous’ Yodel to an employment tribunal

A disabled Yodel worker has been sacked after 19 years on capability grounds.

Tony White, 56, [picture attached] who has several conditions including a spinal issue, was told by Yodel he could have different role upon his return from sickness.

Mr White, who worked for almost two decades sorting parcels in Waltham cross, has a contract which gives him rights on sickness and duty of care.

But these contractual obligations appear to have been ignored as the promised job never materialised and the driver was relieved of his duties

Steve Garelick, GMB Organiser, said:

“This callous act shows that management do not care about agreements or contracts. A man with a disability appears to have been kicked aside.

“This is a new low for Yodel.

“GMB will now take this matter to tribunal to fight for our member’s rights.”
