JOE PASQUALE: “I’M A REAL LIFE FRANK SPENCER.”

COMEDY legend Joe Pasquale says he was the perfect person to star in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Em – because he is a real life Frank Spencer.

Joe is bringing the character to life in an upcoming UK stage adaptation tour of the much-loved 1970s TV series.

Speaking to GB News, Joe said following in the steps of the actor Michael Crawford is the most difficult role he’s taken on.

But he said he was ideally suited to play Frank because he is as accident-prone as he was in the series.

He said: “I walk into everything – if there’s a hole in the ground I’ll find out, something will fall on me – there’s nothing about me that is safe.

“And so to get the part of this and to just be Frank is a godsend. It’s the best job I’ve ever done and it’s the hardest I’ve ever done.

Appearing on Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel on GB News this morning (22 March), Joe also said he needed a massage every night as during each show he has to throw himself down a flight of stairs.

“One of the hardest things is the lines, there are 168 pages and I’m on 165 pages so it’s like learning War And Peace.

“It’s like a cuckoo clock inside this play to make everything work. By the end Frank’s life falls apart and so does the house and the play goes along.

“Everything has to happen at a certain time and it’s like clockwork, if you miss a beat the whole thing falls apart.”
