A volunteer-run football club in Chelmsford is celebrating after it scooped a £1,000 donation from Cala Homes North Home Counties, which has helped the grassroots group bounce back stronger after the pandemic.

The donation to Chelmsford City Youth Football Club (CCYFC) has allowed the team to host more sessions for its under-13 team and enabled them to purchase fresh kits featuring Cala Homes’ brand new logo.

Reliant on financial and volunteer support from the community, the funding forms part of Cala’s bursary scheme, which has supported dozens of similar groups across the region with £20,000 grant funding.

CCYFC Media Officer, Aaron Poulson, said the donation from Cala Homes didn’t only support the club in bouncing back after their games were put on hold, but has also helped other children participate with the club and get back into sport after a lengthy hiatus.

Aaron said: “Chelmsford City Youth F.C is a community club run by volunteers, and as such, we’re dependent on volunteers and funding through sponsorship, which is why we’re delighted with the support from Cala.

This funding also allows us to keep subscription fees as low as possible for parents, which is really important in making the club accessible for all.”

Aaron continued: “With these smart new kits from Cala, the children feel like professionals and are given a real boost knowing that a local organisation is backing them. It’s a real honour for them to be able to reveal the homebuilder’s brand new logo, too.”

Glenn Copper, Sales & Marketing Director for Cala Homes North Home Counties said “This is just one example of how Cala strives to make a positive and lasting contribution to the communities in which we build.

“We know that this donation will mean a great deal to the club and are so pleased to be able to share our new logo with the community via the new kits. We can’t wait to follow their progress and see how the donations will make a real difference to local people.”
