Tomb Rader: The Live Experience highlights our love for live events

There are loads of great statues in London, from the Queen Victoria Memorial to the Boudiccan Rebelion. Now, the archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft will join the list of famous people to be depicted in stone on the streets of the capital.

Located in Stables Market, Camden, the statue was commissioned to promote Tomb Raider: The LIVE Experience. This new interactive experience will make visitors the star of their own adventure. It’s being hosted by Little Lion Entertainment in collaboration with Paramount Pictures and Crystal Dynamics.

Following this new installation, we take a look at some other live experiences that are closer to home.

Game shows from home

Live experiences don’t only take place outdoors—they can be on TV or through our phones too. Those that visit Paddy Power’s Online Casino will be aware that live games are very much in vogue. Their traditional casino games such as roulette, blackjack, baccarat are made more engaging with a live dealer, but they also offer live game show experiences which draw in a new demographic of punters.

For example, their game Monopoly Live takes the beloved elements from the board game and fuse them into an entertaining game show format. Casino game developers are also creating unique live game shows such as Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt Live, Money Drop Live and Live Spin a Win. Players can interact with the host and other contestants through the chat function and this is one option for those that want live entertainment with home comforts.

Escape Rooms

Kyoto, Japan was home to the first modern escape room which was created by a publishing company called SCRAP. Since then they have become a part of the landscape for every major city in Europe and are a favoured destination for groups of friends or work colleagues.

Tricky Escape, Clacton, is one of the highest-rated escape rooms available in the UK and was awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award for featuring in the top 10% of attractions worldwide. They have very different rooms and experiences available for play in Walton, Harwich and Clacton, so make sure you know which type of room suits you before travelling to the location. Clacton is the best venue for choice as they have three distinct rooms with different levels of difficulty.

The easiest, but still challenging is the Wizard Room, where you have 60 minutes to both prove you weren’t responsible and identify the guilty party responsible for the disappearance of the headmaster and grand wizard. Next in terms of difficulty is the spin-tingling and gruesome The Damned room. Finally, the hardest and most unique room is A Race Against Time, which is billed as a time-travelling romp to the 80’s to reconstruct your time machine before the clock runs out. All are great fun, just assemble your team wisely.

Digital Adventure

Just like escape rooms, there are many digital adventure playgrounds forming part of the entertainment scene of large cities. With news of the incoming metaverse and large investment in VR, people are keen to try out what’s available without splashing out on a costly headset.

Electric Gamebox, Lakeside Essex, features interactive digital chambers complete with projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking, and surround sound, to produce an immersive 30-60 minute digital adventure. There are a number of different games to choose from, but highlights include an alien aptitude test, a trip to Mars and a royal rescue. It’s a unique experience for those that have never ventured into digital playgrounds and a prevalent option for those that want more than the standard console can offer them.

Some great live experiences are available for play today and Tomb Raider: The Live Experience launches on April 1st 2022.
