News Presenter Caroline Hyde launches charity to inspire kindness

This Christmas, Caroline Hyde, the British news presenter, and her husband Ben, are launching the world’s first Kindness Advent Tree as part of their new charity, Inspire, which aims to inspire kindness across the UK.

Caroline, who now presents on Bloomberg Television from NYC, is one of the busiest news journalists around, interviewing some of the world’s biggest names in business, politics and philanthropy, from Sheryl Sandberg to Hilary Clinton to Sir Richard Branson, and has now founded Inspire – whilst also juggling being a mother to two children under 4, and all within a foreign city.

When on parental leave during lockdown, Caroline and her husband Ben Floyd decided to set up a charity that continues to inspire the type of kindness that they saw communities across the globe showing each other during the pandemic.

Description automatically generatedInspire was created in early 2021, and now they are launching timeless wooden Kindness Advent Trees, for children to enjoy with their parents/carers year after year, all whilst raising money for charity and spreading kindness.

Inspired by Caroline and Ben’s annual tradition of making festive advent calendars for one another, each Kindness Advent Tree is an interactive, freestanding wooden countdown calendar, with a different magnetic wooden shape for each day of advent, that can be passed down the generations.

The Inspire Advent Tree is an interactive, freestanding wooden count down calendar with 24 magnetic wooden shapes, one for each day of advent. Each numbered shape has a festive picture or print on one side and an act of kindness to carry out that day on the other. The calendar is aimed at children three and over and includes actions such as ‘Donating a toy to charity’ and ‘Paying someone a compliment’.

100% of the profits from the Kindness Advent Charities will go directly to parenting charities, to help give children the best start in life, such as Best Beginnings.
