THE ESSEX Book Festival finale, and Global Village Lite, is to take place at Cressing Temple Barns on Sunday 29 August as part of the Explore Essex Summer of Culture series of partnered events and activities.

The free double event will see the Essex Book Festival and the Essex Cultural Diversity Project’s Global Village Experience bring together this summer’s themes of nature, climate and people in a celebration, while providing a range of activities for all ages.

Taking place over the bank holiday weekend, the festival will feature storytelling, script writing, woodland crafts, meditation walks, family yoga sessions, as well as live music and folklore performances.

The Essex Book Festival author events – including Georgina Harding, author of ‘Harvest’, as well as many more – will take place throughout the day, although many will need to be pre-booked to secure a space.

The Essex Global Village Lite, run by the Essex Cultural Diversity Project festival, takes place from 12:00pm – 17:00pm.

The main stage – which will be framed by large colourful flags from Kinetika – will host martial arts displays, dance, music and folklore performances. Activities also taking place include Tai Chi workshops, Djembe drumming, Chinese Calligraphy, and silk and henna hand painting as well as much more.

Councillor Graham Butland, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Devolution, the Arts, Heritage and Culture, said: “The Explore Essex Summer of Culture has provided a wonderful opportunity to promote the vibrant arts and culture sector we have here in the county and allow people to reconnect with nature and each other.

“These events at Cressing Temple Barns promise to bring enjoyment to many due to the number of exciting activities and workshops which will be taking place. I really would encourage all our residents to visit Cressing Temple Barns on Sunday 29 August – which is a wonderful Essex heritage venue – and enjoy all of the activities on offer.”
