Anchor Hanover, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life, has acquired land in Chelmsford, off White Hart Lane, enabling the delivery of over 80 new homes for over 65s. The acquisition falls in line with the company’s ambitious development strategy, vision for the future and target to create 3,200 homes for older people across the UK in the next seven years.

The 1.59-acre site in Chelmsford is part of the large-scale masterplan joint venture, Beaulieu, between Countryside Properties and L&Q to create over 3,600 homes and amenities. Over the next 24 months, Anchor Hanover will deliver an independent living scheme of 82 one- and two-bedroom apartments for private sale and shared ownership. These new homes will be part of the vibrant new integrated community for the city of Chelmsford, where residents will be surrounded by inspirational architecture, well maintained landscapes and open space, a plethora of amenities, new transport connections, sports clubs and community gardens.

Charles Taylor, Head of New Business at Anchor Hanover said: “The acquisition of the site in Chelmsford is a vital land parcel in helping us achieve Anchor Hanover’s clear vision for developing more homes. By securing land within wider development schemes such as this project, we are confident that our homes will provide owners with places they will love living in later life.

“The new land has been carefully considered to ensure residents are within close proximity of local amenities and transport links. The new development will also be home to an onsite bistro, colleague facilities, a communal lounge, hair and beauty facilities and a guest suite.

“Construction is due to start before the end of the year with an expected completion in early 2023 when we look forward to welcoming our first residents to the new community.”
