We all want to improve our lives. We want to have a better social life, to be better at work, to be more self-assured etc. But to improve in these parts of your life you have to make some changes. And to do that you’ll have to implement some new habits in your life that can make you more enthusiastic and more confident. Some of these tips below are scientifically proven, and by practising them, you will notice a change in your life pretty soon.

Influence your emotions

We need to get through tough situations all the time, where we have to be in the right state of mind and to give our best. These situations could be anything from a public speech to an awkward phone call. You know you can’t be nervous or heedless, which is especially hard for introverted people. But there are some things you can do to make these situations better and to give your best.

The first thing is to use movement. I know this couldn’t be applied in many scenarios like on an exam or an interview. But when you have the freedom and the chance to walk a few meters when you have to give your best, do it. Your brain works better and comes up with better solutions when you make some movement. Nobody will see you nor judge you if you take rounds in your room while you’re on a phone call with your boss, so don’t be ashamed and use this tip.

The second thing is to start the “challenging situation” with the right state of mind. If you have an impulse to act on a goal, (this could be anything to wake up instead of hitting snooze, start reading or to address a person) you must make a move within 5 seconds from the moment the thought is born. Your brain has a function to keep you in the safest and comfortable situation, so if you don’t act in this 5-second window, the intention will go away. However, if you make the first moment, you will force your brain to continue the movement until you reach your small goal.

What to do? When you hesitate just count down loudly from 5. So just say “5,4,3,2,1, GO” and to the first act. This way, with the counting you unconsciously will focus on the goal instead of the excuses and your comfort by doing nothing. I know that this all might sound stupid or childish, but you will be surprised how well it works.

Fill up your free time

IF you want to be an exciting person in front of others, you will have to be a fascinating person when nobody sees you. I’m not saying that you should read all the time or resolve match problems 24/7 to become smarter or to run a marathon daily to become the fittest person on earth. No. Just make sure you have something that you’re passionate about, and you can stand out in it with your skills.

If you don’t have one, try out new habits, hobbies and interests. You will surely find something new. There are many activities on the internet that you can try out. So if you decide to do something, or create a new lifestyle, use your momentum and do something physical for that.
