Join the fun at Bredhurst’s virtual summer fair

Kent cat lovers are invited to join the fun at a Bredhurst animal charity’s first Virtual Summer Fair.

Bredhurst Cats Protection’s annual summer fair will look quite different this year, but the fun should be unaltered.

The Kent adoption centre is taking the fun online with a Facebook Live event on Sunday, 6 September (11am-12:30). For details, visit: https://www.facebook.com/CPBredhurst

There will be plenty to see and enjoy live online, including streamed tours of the centre, video performances from local community groups and, of course, plenty of cats. Other activities at the Virtual Summer Fair will include a silent auction where people can bid on some wonderful items and experiences.

The centre has been working constantly during lockdown to ensure that cats and kittens in care receive the attention and welfare they need. Thanks for the national charity’s Hands-Free Homing scheme, some cats have been successfully rehomed in a new contactless matchmaker process.

Adrian Ferne, Manager at the Bredhurst Adoption Centre, said: “Changing times call for changing plans and nothing is going to stop us having fun for the cats.

“Many fundraising activities have been pulled due to the pandemic and it looked like our summer fair would go the same way. That’s when we decided to take the fun online with a Facebook Live event. So why not join us for our very first virtual fair, with all funds raised on the day going towards helping cats in Kent.”

Taking an event online and creating all kinds of new content is no small feat, so it was good that Cats Protection volunteer Katie Carey was able to step up.

Adrian said: “Katie has organised a number of successful Facebook Live events that have raised valuable funds for our centre and she has been involved in the homing of some of our harder-to-home cats.

“We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who go the extra mile to support us through these times. Because of them, cats continue to receive the care they need.”
