BASILDON borough’s Hollywood-style sign turned blue last night in support of the NHS and carers.

The Basildon borough silver sign, pride of the comparatively new borough that was created after WW2 and one of the town’s most iconic landmarks, will be turning blue tonight as a symbol of support and gratitude for all carers and essential workers.

The Mayor of Basildon David Burton-Sampson, the Leader of the Council Gavin Callaghan, and the Chief Executive of the Council Scott Logan, took up socially distanced spots just before 8pm in front of the BASILDON sign as it turns blue, to mark the occasion and joined in the Thursday 8pm applause for the NHS.
