There was definitely no feeling down with the January blues at this event last Thursday (16 January 2019).

The team from Practical HR got together with the Southend Office of Essex Chambers of Commerce for a Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee morning. There was plenty of networking for the businesses that attended who kickstarted their New Year networking, meeting up with some old and new acquaintances, whilst helping to raise money for such a great cause and enjoying the many cakes that had been made and bought along. The prize for the best cake went to Stephen Garrett from Maine Man Barbers.

Paula Fisher, Managing Director of Practical HR and YourHR.space opened the event by recognising that everyone knows someone who has been touched or affected by cancer. She referenced her own battle with breast cancer 18 months ago and how thankful she was for the friends and family around her who helped get her through. She acknowledged the great work by organisations like MacMillan who provide so much support in this area. Paula said, “It was lovely to see so many businesses support this event and so much cake! We are very grateful to everyone that has donated and so far we have raised over £1200 with donations still coming in! It was certainly a great way to brighten a dull January morning”.
