London Stansted will play host the CAPA World Aviation Summit between Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd December 2020. The event will take place at the airport’s Radisson Blu Hotel and over 200 senior officials from the aviation industryare expected to attend.

A global event

The summit, run by CAPA – Centre for Aviation, the provider of market intelligence across the aviation and travelindustries, is being held to give airline executives the opportunity to review and analyse the aviation sector’s performance over the year. It will also discuss current news related to air travel and provide predictions for the coming year.

The aim is to shine the spotlight on both the commercial and operational aspects and as a result of the summit, it is hoped that there will be tactical planning in 2021:

[The summit] provides a high-level platform for thorough analysis of the pinnacle successes and confronting lows that we as an aviation community have faced over the year,” saidPeter Harbison, Chairman Emeritus at CAPA. “By identifying the lessons learnt and pinpointing some of the most significant influences shaping aviation, we as a collective, can ensure the industry continues to evolve.

It will be a global event, with speakers and attendeesrepresenting all regions, from Europe and the Americas to Africa and Asia. The line-up is yet to be announced, but there are plans for talks and debates that are designed to reflect the key issues affecting aviation.

Pivotal venue

As the UK’s third-largest cargo airport and serving the major continents, London Stansted is a natural venue choice for the summit. It is big enough to fit all of the different talks and booths that will be on show for the summit. From the best online ground school that’s being used to attract new pilots to the latest technology shaping the industy, there will be a wide range of resources and companies attending. The airport is the only airport in the capital that has the infrastructure to support growing cargo aviation in the next decade, and it has also submitted expansion plans in 2018 in order to increase the allowed number of passengers from 35 million to 43 million annually.

“We at London Stansted are extremely proud and excited to be selected to host CAPA’s World Aviation Outlook Summit in 2020…We have ambitious growth and investment plans for London Stansted and look forward to sharing our vision as we welcome guests from across the world to the Airport for next year’s Summit,” said Aboudy Nasser, chief Commercial Officer for London Stansted.

With growth in mind across both air cargo and commercial passenger numbers, the airport has big ambitions for the future – and this tallies with the goals of the summit.

Joined-up event

In addition to the summit, the annual CAPA Global Aviation Awards for Excellence will also take place at the London Stansted hotel. This is scheduled in for the evening of the 2ndDecember and features 10 awards including Airline of the Year, Low Cost Airline of the Year, and Innovation of the Year.
