ENGIE, a regeneration, services and energy company, which improves lives through better living and working environments, both in the UK and abroad, are currently involved in a development in Wickford.

Following meeting up with members of the Wickford Community Events committee, they have provided the finance for the purchase of two of the fifteen new Christmas lights for the town.

Help from Basildon Council has enabled a further thirteen new lights to be ready for this Christmas in time for the Wickford at Christmas Street Fair which takes place on Sunday 24 November in the High Street from 12noon until 5pm

A spokesperson from ENGIE said – “ENGIE and Peabody are proud to be supporting the Wickford Christmas Lights. ENGIE and Peabody are working in partnership to deliver 30 new apartments for affordable rent for local families. A striking development on Nevendon Road, the four storey apartment block is due to complete at the end of 2020”.

Amanda Greenwood from Wickford Community Events said – “We are extremely grateful for ENGIE’s support in our mission to improve Wickford’s Christmas lights. This, together with the grant from Basildon Council and previous years’ fundraising, means we’ve been able to make some much-needed updates to the display. It doesn’t stop there though; we continuously need support from local businesses and public donations every year to keep the lights up and running, to store them the rest of the year and to pay for all the elements needed to run the Christmas Street Fair.”
