KIDS’S STAY FREE: SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER AT DOWN HALL

Summer has arrived, so grab the kids and get out of the city for a staycation to remember at historic country house hotel, Down Hall. Located in the stunning Hertfordshire countryside just 45 minutes from London, Down Hall offers a plethora of activities to keep the kids amused, from daytrips to Paradise Park through to mini-golf, archery and falconry within the property’s 110 acres of beautiful gardens.

This summer, Down Hall is inviting young guests to stay and dine for free as part of the Summer Staycation package, which includes board, breakfast and day trip tickets for two adults and two children.

Wake up to a dose of fresh country air, before loading up for an actioned packed day at the breakfast buffet: fill your boots on a Full English with all the trimmings, Eggs Benedict or Royale, and a full selection of pastries, fruit and cereals.

Fun-filled day trips included within the Summer Staycation package feature a day out at Paradise Wildlife Park, where you’ll see white lions, tigers, snow leopards and much more. Or, if history’s more your thing, head to the famous IWM Duxford and get lost amid the aircraft, getting up close to everything from World War II Spitfires to the iconic Concorde.

Prices start from just £159 per night and include B&B for two adults and two children, and entry to one local attractions.

There’s plenty to do at the hotel too. Kids can get involved in den building and fairy garden hunting on the Woodland Activity Trail, or take part in kid-friendly Archery classes. Down Hall also boasts a new, 9-hole Mini Golf course which is perfect for big and small kids alike – enjoy the sunshine drink in hand, keeping an eye on your littles from the nearby al fresco Terrace Bar.

Looking to make your holiday extra special? Then book afternoon tea for all the family – adults can enjoy a classic tea with a glass of fizz (from £30 pp), while kids can explore the new Woodland Adventure Children’s Afternoon Tea featuring fingers sandwiches, scones and chocolate flower pots (£15 per child).

On 17th August, Down Hall will also be hosting a one-off Falconry Experience in collaboration with Coda Falconry. From 11.30am-3pm, immerse yourself in the ancient pastime of falconry, learning more about beautiful birds of prey including owls, kestrel and Harris Hawk. The class is priced at £25 pp, or £55 with afternoon tea afterwards.
