Transport company ATL Haulage Contractors Ltd, based in Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, has come to the aid of children’s charity Over The Wall by agreeing to deliver all the equipment and resources required to run its camps around the UK.

Over The Wall is a provider of free residential camps for children with serious illness that will host 15 camps throughout 2019, catering for more than 1,000 children. Earlier this year, the charity sent a widespread appeal to haulage firms requesting help in distributing its equipment from its head office in Havant, Hampshire, to areas including Dorset, the Midlands and Scotland.

After discovering the appeal for help on social media, ATL Haulage decided to assist Over The Wall by agreeing to transport the equipment completely free of charge, saving the charity costs of around £25,000.

ATL Haulage, which launched in 2009, provides logistics services from its head office in DP World London Gateway, Essex, with additional offices in Southampton. The company assists the carriage of both import and export cargo and has more than 50 years’ experience in the industry, with a fleet capacity of more than 150 trucks.

ATL Haulage is working alongside the ocean shipping company Yang Ming (UK) Ltd, which has also agreed to provide the free use of the containers that will be used to transport the items for camp, including arts and crafts equipment, toys, games, medical supplies, medical equipment, musical instruments and more.

In addition, ATL Haulage has agreed to brand some of its vehicles with Over The Wall logos, and will even bring its newest trucks to camps for the children to explore.

Ash Karia, Operations Director of ATL Haulage, said, “We are proud to team up with Over The Wall, especially on our ten-year anniversary. We saw the request for help and after discussing it with my business partners, Amit Karia and Jamie Woodward, it was unanimously agreed that we must get involved. With the help of our shipping partner Yang Ming and the entire ATL team’s willingness and dedication, the logistics of the camps became simple.”

Kevin Mathieson, Chief Executive of Over The Wall, said, “Our residential camps are in multiple sites across the UK, so assistance with the logistics of camp is incredibly important. ATL Haulage’s partnership with Over The Wall will mean that we will be able to offer more children with serious illness the opportunity to experience the magic of our camps. We are both honoured and incredibly grateful to everyone at ATL Haulage for their help and generosity.”
