Hornchurch resident Amy Howe was among 46 runners who took on the legendary London Marathon in support of the National Deaf Children’s Society on Sunday, 28 April.

Amy finished the marathon in seven hours 13 minutes and 58 seconds and has raised £2,745 to date. She was inspired to take on the famous 26.2 mile course, starting in Greenwich Park and finishing on the Mall, by her young cousin, Maisie, who was born profoundly deaf.

She was spurred on by staff and supporters at the charity’s Tower Bridge and Westminster cheer points.

The National Deaf Children’s Society, which supports the UK’s 50,000 deaf children, is set to benefit to the tune of over £110,000 thanks to the combined fundraising efforts of the 46 runners.

Amy, 23, lives in Hornchurch and works as a private client tax adviser at Kingston Smith.
