Essex is set for visit of the world’s biggest 5k, featuring huge inflatable obstacles

Up to 5,000 runners are set to take on the world’s biggest 5k run this weekend.

Runners will take on a host of inflatables when Gung-Ho! Seriously Fun 5k returns to the region, with obstacles including gauntlets, climbing walls, labyrinths and slide.

The huge course requires the same amount of air to inflate as more than 75 million footballs.

Gung-Ho! creator and Cbeebies presenter Alex Winters will host the event and will put people through their paces in the warm-up. People will be running for, amongst other charities, Children in Need – the national charity partner of Gung-Ho!.

There will be a kids-only event first, followed by the adult event from 10am.

With thousands of people raising money for charity and taking part for many different reasons, it will be filled with interesting individual stories.
