London Stansted Airport’s winter flying schedule is off to a strong start, with record November passenger numbers passing through the airport.

More than 1.8 million passengers travelled through Stansted last month, almost 83,000 or 5 per cent more than November last year. The total number of passengers in the 12 months to November 2017 rose to over 25.9 million passengers, up 7.2 per cent over the previous year.

November also saw a significant increase in cargo tonnage, with a 12.5 per cent jump to almost 26,000 tonnes. The annual running total was 4.6% higher at 263,000 tonnes.

Over the last month, the airport’s contribution to regional growth and employment opportunities have been recognised with visits by key politicians.

The Minister of State for Industry, Claire Perry, was on hand to launch the construction phase of the innovative £11m Stansted Airport college, on the day the Government launched its Industrial Strategy.
