Basildon Upper Academy sixth form were kept busy selling cakes to fundraise for the Mayor of Basildon Councillor David Harrison’s childrens charities “Be Child Cancer Aware” and the “Polly Parrot Appeal” on the last day before the half-term break.

Cllr. Harrison said “the sixth formers were brilliant, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning,”

Headteacher Gary Smith, and Senior Leader Suzanne O’Neil were on hand to help as students from the rest of the school queued up to buy the cakes.

Cllr. Harrison added “the young people are a credit to the school, and afterwards it was good to talk to them and hear their ambitions in life. I must thank the Head for allowing them to help me. If anyone else wants to help me fundraise for these two really worthwhile causes – just get in touch!”
