KEEPING the greens in perfect condition requires support from club members and businesses, which is why High Street audiologists at Specsavers Walton-on-Thames are sponsoring their local lawn bowling club, which is celebrating its 104th birthday.
Audiology director Laura Smith comments: ‘We’re committed to supporting our community here in the town. We decided to offer sponsorship to the club because of its proximity to the store, its heritage and inclusive nature, with members aged from 10 to 90. In fact, as a team, we’re keen to try our hand at bowls, so will be organising a team outing very soon.’
The genteel game of lawn bowls has graced the town of Walton-on-Thames since the founding of the local club in 1922 by a group of local businesses and artisans. It offers an extensive programme of matches against other clubs and has teams that compete in the Surrey Leagues and Surrey County Competitions.
Michael Atkinson, Walton-on-Thames Bowling Club Treasurer, says: ‘We’re delighted that our local Specsavers Hearcare Centre is sponsoring us this season. The funds will help with the running of the club, ground maintenance and supporting our teams who take part in the Surrey competitions.
‘We’re proud to say that we are a Bowling Club where generations connect, laughter echoes, and community thrives. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Laura and the team to the club.’
Specsavers Walton-on-Thames, located in the High Street, has a dedicated audiology centre offering customers a state-of-the-art room equipped with the latest soundproof technology and equipment for audiology services.
