Matchroom, the organisers of this year’s UK Open Pool Championship are pleased to announce an exciting addition to the player line-up ahead of the tournament, which takes place at the Brentwood Centre from 26-31 May.
This year’s event will see three of snooker’s most recognisable names make their mark on the pool stage:
Gary Wilson- The “Tyneside Terror” and three-time ranking event winner, including titles at the Scottish Open and Welsh Open. A former World Snooker Championship semi-finalist, Wilson will be aiming to carry his success into pool.
Stuart Bingham- Former World Snooker Champion and Masters winner, bringing a wealth of experience as he targets his first major pool title.
Chris Wakelin- A ranking event winner at both the Snooker Shootout and Scottish Open, Wakelin will be looking to translate his strong snooker form to the pool table.
One of the standout events on the international pool calendar, the UK Open will feature 256 players, including 128 World Nineball Tour professionals representing 40 nations. Competitors will battle it out for a total prize fund of $200,000, with $40,000 awarded to the winner.
Media are invited to attend the championship to witness the action first-hand and speak with key players. A dedicated practice day will be held on 25 May, offering additional opportunities for interviews and preview coverage.
