Stephen Mangan has been on our screens in Britain for decades, and it could be argued that he’s a national treasure. The most famous faces in the country arguably make the best hosts, with the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and Claudia Winkleman up there with the standouts.

After hosting The Fortune Hotel recently, many viewers are wondering what they’ll see Mangen in next. He has proven himself as a worthy frontman and could be in line for some of the biggest gigs in the future.

Mangan Was Hugely Popular in The Fortune Hotel

Most recently, Mangan took on the role of the host of The Fortune Hotel, which ran for two seasons before its cancellation. The series received excellent reviews from fans and critics alike. It was even immortalised in the online casino industry, with the branded The Fortune Hotel slot one of the top-rated new slot games. The game takes players to the setting of the show and uses many of the same symbols and features.

Many viewers were shocked when it was announced that The Fortune Hotel would not be continuing. The series had been described as a perfect mix of The Traitors and The White Lotus, making it compelling viewing in a luxurious setting. However, it was reported that the series commanded a huge budget and was deemed too expensive to continue. There’s a chance that it could be revived on streaming services, but for now, its run is over.

Star Has Shown He Can Present a Range of Shows

Mangan was one of the highlights of The Fortune Hotel, but that isn’t the actor’s only piece of hosting work to date. Indeed, he has proven that he can take on a range of genres, having also presented Have I Got News for You on various occasions over the years. He also recently presented the revival of Password on ITV in 2024, which ran for seven episodes. This is set to return for a second season in 2026, and there’s a chance that it could be a long-running gig for Mangan.

The fact that Mangan was deemed worthy of presenting a reboot of such a legendary game show suggests that he’s high up in producers’ minds when thinking about who can easily carry an important show.

Mangan Could Be Frontrunner for Other Important Reboots

With game shows enjoying a widespread resurgence on UK screens, there’s talk of bringing back various other classic offerings such as The Generation Game and Blockbusters. These are considered ripe for return under the right circumstances.

With any revivals, the most important thing is to ensure that the right host is in place, as they act as the face of the series and are the initial draw for viewers. Mangan has proven that he’s up to the task and may have various hosting roles in the future.

Mangan is now up there with the gems of British television, and his recent hosting roles have left viewers wanting more. He could land some huge presenting jobs soon, as the renewed interest in game shows continues.
