London Stansted is beginning a beautiful friendship with Royal Air Maroc, as the airline today (June 24) launched its first-ever direct flight from the airport to Casablanca – Morocco’s biggest city and the star of a silver screen classic.
Taking off at 7.25am, the new service operates three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a flight time of just over three hours.
The route caters to both business and leisure travellers, offering a convenient way to explore Morocco’s largest city while also providing onward connections across Royal Air Maroc’s extensive African network.
Casablanca, made famous by the classic 1942 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, continues to enchant visitors with its mix of old-world traditions and modern life.
From the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world, to the romantic Corniche waterfront and maze-like medina, Casablanca offers a rich taste of Morocco’s heritage and culture.
Ciaran Brannigan, Commercial Director at London Stansted, said:
“Of all the airports in all the towns in all the world, Royal Air Maroc chose London Stansted for its new direct service to Casablanca, a decision we are truly delighted about. This service will provide our passengers with more choice and convenience when traveling to North Africa, whether for business, leisure, or connecting onto the airline’s broader route network. Casablanca is an iconic destination, and we are confident this new route will be the beginning of beautiful friendship between Royal Air Maroc and London Stansted.”
Zoubida Smahi, UK General Manager at Royal Air Maroc, said:
“We’re excited to launch our new service from London Stansted. As a major hub for Moroccan culture and commerce, Casablanca also serves as a key gateway providing extensive connections across our global network, including Moroccan cities and West African countries. This new route offers added convenience with an earlier departure and expands our reach to North and East London, enhancing flexibility and connectivity within our UK network.”
London Stansted serves more European destinations than any other UK airport, and this new service will further strengthen its route network, which now covers almost 200 destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
