Half of London’s air pollution is caused by road traffic and the capital’s shift to more sustainable and affordable forms of travel is key to achieving the Mayor’s net zero carbon target by 2030.

Forest, the dockless electric bike sharing service in London, has long been recognised for its commitment to the environment. It has held B Corp status since 2022 and is the only e-bike provider to be 100% powered by renewable energy.

In 2023, Forest gave away 14 million minutes of free rides, eliminating 235,000 car trips across the capital and in 2024 Forest riders travelled nearly 24 million km, saving the capital 1104 tonnes of CO2. In the past year alone, the company has reduced its overall carbon footprint by 74%.

Additionally, with the costs of traditional transport methods rising, it remains committed to providing Londoners with a more cost-effective alternative and is the most affordable shared e-bike in London.

Forest has now partnered with UK online delivery company, Deliveroo, in a move that will reward Forest’s customers and Deliveroo drivers when they choose to ride with Forest. As part of the partnership, Deliveroo’s riders across the capital will have access to an exclusive subscription and discounted Forest rides, allowing them to access more affordable, sustainable and safer transport options for work.

By using a Forest for their deliveries, Deliveroo drivers will also benefit from not having to pay the costs associated with owning, charging and maintaining their own bikes.

By moving away from petrol motorbikes to an e-bike, a single Deliveroo driver can save 72.5kg of CO2 per month. With the average driver completing 1,000km annually on a Forest bike, this equates to almost a tonne of CO2 saved per driver each year.

Having recently been ranked 22nd out of 250 in Sifted’s fastest-growing companies in Europe, ensuring sustainability and affordability will remain central to Forest as it continues its growth. In the next year, the company is aiming to increase the number of gifted minutes to users to 50 million, and prevent 1500 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the capital’s air
