Burnham Waters, a new retirement community for the over 55 in Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex, has been shortlisted for a prestigious, national, Housing with Care Award.
The retirement village, which offers a collection of one, two and three-bedroom bungalows set within a thriving new community, is one of three contenders, shortlisted within the Building Design category.
This category aims to recognise organisations who have delivered a design that demonstrates innovation and imagination with the resident’s wellbeing at the centre. Judges are looking for a design that is responsive to the needs of its future residents and demonstrates the best utilisation of technology. Judges will also be looking for evidence of best utilisation of green technologies to deliver an effective design solution and a design that meets current and future care and support needs for its residents.
Judges will commence their review of all shortlisted candidates this week, with the winner due to be announced at an awards ceremony, taking place on Friday 6th June 2025.
Ian Holloway, Project Director at Burnham Waters, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. All of the homes at Burnham Waters have very much been designed with their future owners and their changing needs in mind. However, we have never compromised on quality: from the vaulted ceiling and bi -fold windows within the main living space, which allow natural light to flood in, to the high level of interior specification throughout our homes and the green technologies, included as standard. We are proud to be delivering not only a collection of new homes, but a new and thriving community here in Burnham-on-Crouch.”
All of the homes at Burnham Waters benefit from open plan layouts, which can easily accommodate wheel chairs or walking aids, along with easily accessible wet rooms. They include built-in alarms systems and a smart lock and video intercom, which offers both additional security and convenience for residents.
Each home benefits from its own private patio/terrace, while the wider grounds are maintained as part of the estate. This allows residents to benefit from the open space, without the burden of maintenance. The entire site offers level access/is step free.
The homes at Burnham Waters incorporate both electric car charging points and Air Source Heat Pumps as standard – enabling residents to reduce their energy consumption and their fuel bills too.
The first residents have now moved into their new homes at Burnham Waters and a new community is taking shape. Once complete, the wider village will offer residents access to beautifully landscaped grounds and a host of on-site amenities and leisure facilities, including shops, a café, a swimming pool and fitness suite, all within easy reach.
There is currently a range of one, two and three-bedroom bungalows available for sale, with homes ready to move in to.
The sales and marketing suite is open daily, 10am – 3pm.
